¹: Students who are not majoring in a degree program offered by the School of Education may not enroll in EDCI 3964 or EDCI 4964. Elementary Education Majors pursuing the Virginia State Early childhood for three-year-olds and four-year-olds add-on endorsement should seek information and academic advising from the School of Education (soe@vt.edu) regarding the specific requirements for Field Study.
²: Elementary Education Majors pursuing the Virginia State Early childhood for three-year-olds and four-year-olds add-on endorsement must complete EDCI 3234 and EDCI 3244.

Students enrolled in the minor must also complete the following graduation requirements:

Hours Requirement: Students must complete a minimum of 19 credit hours to earn the Early Childhood Development and Education minor.
GPA Requirement: Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in courses used to fulfill this minor. All courses listed above are included in the calculation of the minor GPA.
Prerequisites: Some courses listed above have prerequisites or enrollment restrictions. Students should consult the Academic Catalog and/or contact their Academic Advisor for prerequisite and enrollment information.
Double Counting: Courses completed for other degree programs may also count toward this minor, provided the course is listed among the approved requirements or electives for the minor or has been approved by the minor coordinator.
Additional Notes:
- Students majoring in Early Childhood Development and Education cannot complete this minor.
- Students participating in the elementary education degree program that grants Virginia State Teaching Licensure have the option of fulfilling the ECDE minor by taking specific minor course options that will make them eligible for the Virginia State Early childhood for three-year-olds and four-year-olds add-on endorsement. Students seeking this option should seek information and academic advising from the School of Education (soe@vt.edu).
