Your catalog year determines the graduation requirements you follow. Students pursuing requirements for the 2026–2027 academic year should use this catalog edition. Students following requirements from a different academic year should refer to the catalog for that year.
Catalog Year
The catalog year determines the curriculum and graduation requirements a student must complete. Students may request to move to a newer catalog year with advisor guidance and approval from the academic dean and the Office of the University Registrar, in accordance with university policy.
Catalog Rights
Students generally retain the right to complete the curriculum associated with the catalog year in which they first enroll at Virginia Tech or a later catalog year as permitted by policy. Students who defer their attendance forfeit their initial catalog rights.
