All courses listed for the minor have a prerequisite of ENGL 1106 First-Year Writing or COMM 1016 Communication Skills.

Students who have taken ENGL 3764 Technical Writing or ENGL 3774 Business Writing prior to declaring the minor can substitute that course for ENGL 2844 Introduction to Technical and Scientific Communication. Students cannot take either ENGL 3764 or ENGL 3774 after declaring the minor and have it substituted.

Graduation Requirements

Students enrolled in the minor must also complete the following graduation requirements:

  • Hours Requirement: Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours to earn the technical and scientific communication minor.
  • GPA Requirement: Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in courses used to fulfill this minor. All courses listed above are included in the calculation of the minor GPA.
  • Prerequisites: Some courses listed above have prerequisites or enrollment restrictions. Students should consult the Academic Catalog and/or contact their Academic Advisor for prerequisite and enrollment information.
