Pamplin+ Curriculum

As part of the Pamplin+ curriculum, Pamplin College of Business students will complete:

Four Business Cohort Courses: BUS 1004, BUS 2004, BUS 3004, and BUS 4004.
Two Experiential Learning Requirements: BUS 3900 and BUS 3754 (unless satisfied by a major-specific course).
Coursework designed to develop skills in the following areas:
- AI Literacy for Business (BUS 1204)
- Entrepreneurship & Innovation
- Communication
- Ethics & Law
- Global Marketplace
- Service/Resilience

In some majors, students may choose from a list of approved courses to fulfill one of these skill areas; when applicable, this option is specified in the program requirements. In all other cases, these skills are embedded within required major courses.

Satisfactory Progress Towards Degree

Upon having attempted 72 semester hours (including transfer, advanced placement, advanced standing, credit by examination, course withdrawal), students must:

Be enrolled in a degree-granting program, and
Be certified at the close of the academic year by their department as making satisfactory progress toward a degree based upon preestablished minimum criteria, and
Have an in-major GPA of 2.00 or above and maintain an in-major GPA of 2.00 or above until graduation.

Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirement: A grade of C- or better is required in the following courses: ACIS 2115 - ACIS 2116, BIT 2406, ECON 2005 - ECON 2006, FIN 3104, MGT 3404, and MKTG 3104.
Overall and In-Major GPA: Students must have an overall GPA of 2.0 and an in-major GPA of 2.0 to graduate. Courses used to calculate the in-major GPA are noted with a # footnote.
General Information: A total of 124 credit hours is required for graduation. Any exceptions to this curriculum must be approved by the student's department head and Associate Dean for Pamplin Undergraduate Programs.

Department Information

Graduation Requirement: A grade of C or better is required in the following courses: FIN 3134, FIN 3144, and FIN 3154.
Three Attempt Policy: The Department of Finance enforces the university's three attempt policy for FIN 3134, FIN 3144, and FIN 3154. Students who do not achieve a grade of C or better in three attempts of FIN 3134, FIN 3144, and/or FIN 3154 will not be permitted to attempt the course(s) a fourth time and will be required to change to a major outside the Department of Finance.

Foreign Language Requirement

Students who did not successfully complete at least two years of a single foreign, classical, or sign language during high school must successfully complete six credit hours of a single foreign, classical, or sign language at the college level. Courses taken to meet this requirement may not count towards the minimum credit hours required for graduation. Please refer to the Undergraduate Catalog for details.
