Pathways Concept 7 - Critical Analysis of Identity and Equity in the United States
Select 3 credits from courses approved for Concept 7.
Students in the ECDE major pursuing the minor in Disability Studies (DST) can fulfill Pathways Concept 2 and/or 6d with a course from the DST minor.
HIST 1115 History of the United States and HIST 1116 History of the United States fulfills Pathways Concept 2 and 7. SOC 1004 Introductory Sociology fulfills Pathways Concept 3 and 7. Students who take one of these courses covering Pathways Concept 7 will only need to take 42 credit hours t fulfill their required Pathways courses, instead of 45.
CONS 2304 Consumer and Family Finances or HD 3024 Community Analytics is recommended because these courses fulfill this Pathways requirement and offer content relevant to the ECDE major.
The ECDE major does not grant teaching licensure. Students should seek academic advising regarding additional coursework required for Virginia State teaching endorsement in preparation for teaching licensure. Recommended courses are based on VA State Teaching licensure requirements at time checksheet was created. Seek academic advising for help choosing courses.
A sequence of 2 foreign language courses is required for graduation unless 2 high school credits of the same foreign language or 6 transfer credit hours of foreign language have been earned. These credits do not count toward graduation—see Undergraduate Catalog section on graduation requirements.

Satisfactory progress toward the degree is defined as successful completion of HD 1004 Childhood and Adolescence and Pathways Concept 1f, 4, and 5f by the time the student has attempted 72 semester hours.
